Last week, I wrote about God’s design for human nutrition and used Bible verses that support my views. This week I wanted to write about God’s design for our human sexuality.
God’s design for sexuality is simple. One man and one woman should “join together” and remain together for life. This union needs to be a marriage in order to avoid fornication.
There is no room for misinterpretation about God’s design for sexuality. Homosexuality, multiple partners, premarital sex, divorce, self stimulation, and even cross dressing are all condemned in the Bible and do not belong in any Christian church. Here are the verses that outline God’s design for human sexuality.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:24 KJV)
This means your wife comes before your mother and father.
They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God. (Leviticus 21:7 KJV)
As a Christian, you should not marry a whore or divorced woman.
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. (Leviticus 18:22 KJV)
A Christian can not be a homosexual. There are few sins that are called abomination.
The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. (Deuteronomy 22:5 KJV)
Cross dressing is also an abomination. God detests it.
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:28 KJV)
Just thinking about it is a sin and requires asking God for forgiveness.
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. (Matthew 5:32 KJV)
Marrying a divorced woman is adultery. Infidelity is the only reason for a divorce.
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Matthew 19:5-6 KJV)
Marriage is a commitment to God. Asunder means separate.
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. (Romans 1:27 KJV)
We see that homosexuality is condemned in the New Testament.
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (1 Corinthians 6:9 KJV)
The Bible lists three sexual lifestyles that shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Those of fornicators, adulterers, and homosexuals.
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. (1 Corinthians 7:2 KJV)
We see that marriage allows us to avoid fornication.
Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. (1 Corinthians 7:3 KJV)
We see that a husband and wife should treat each other with benevolence.
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. (1 Corinthians 7:4 KJV)
We see that a husband and wife are in control of the others body.
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. (1 Corinthians 7:34 KJV)
We see that only a virgin can be holy in body and spirit.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14 KJV)
Just like a Christian shouldn’t marry a whore, a Christian shouldn’t marry an unbeliever.
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; (Ephesians 5:3 KJV)
If you have committed sexual sins that are not according to God’s design in the past you must turn from them in order to continue on the Christian path.
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Ephesians 5:5 KJV)
Another word for whoremonger is womanizer.
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. (Ephesians 5:33 KJV)
Love and respect is needed to make a marriage work.
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. (Hebrews 13:4 KJV)
God will not judge you for having a healthy sexual marriage relationship.
There are a lot more verses and they all support the Biblical teaching that homosexuality, fornication, adultery, multiple partners and premarital sex are not compatible with a Christian lifestyle. You must chose one or the other, you can’t have both.
The Good News is that if you are willing to change God will forgive you of your past sins and give you the will and courage to change your behavior so that you can be part of God’s Heavenly Kingdom. All you have to do is confess your sins and believe God will forgive you.
